Since it gives us a better idea of the setup theme e.g. now if we lynch someone and they claim to be Bob we know that claim isn't out of the ordinary here and don't have to rely on oog/mischief saying so at end of day

And also makes mafia lock in a role name claim (well sort of, a paraphrased one but one that should still be closely related to their true claim later in the game otherwise they'll be risking being put under a lot of suspicion) which could help for reasons you can probably work out and I don't really want to explicitly say them

All this does is allow mafia to take potshots at whose name sounds like what town power role.

a) it's easy to fake claim something mundane and familiar, like a bodyguard, because firstly you don't need to make up much and secondly, it's more likely to be believed anyway
b) the more gimmicky roles on the town side, which i'm sure we have, will be less believed and we'll lynch our more powerful prs ourselves, leaving less work for the scum to do
