While I keep working on getting Dominion up and running, perhaps a little game based upon a novel I am writing (which is still a VERY heavy work in progress) would kill some time?
UTOPIA
It is said that the world was not always perfect. Never perfect. There is always a tragic flaw in the story of a great thing, be it man, woman or civilization. But, as with all tragic flaws, we can't help but feel sorry for what becomes of the hero.
The city of Utopia was not always perfect. The game takes place prior to the book, set many years before the events in the novel. The city of Utopia was not always considered to be a utopia. Rather, it is torn between two warring factions: The New Order, who is composed of the current government of the city, and the rebels, who fight to topple the New Order rulers. Along the entire length of the city, there are sandbags, machine guns, tanks, and other fortifications manned by the multitudes of New Order soldiers, ranging from simple Line Infantry to the Praetorian Guard of the government buildings. The Rebel forces hardly know any organization in ranks, rather outfitting anyone they can in order to gain an edge in the fighting. Currently, it is stalemated, with the New Order having held out for months on the outskirts of Utopia.
On to the game: You, the player, are part of a New Order battalion, sent in to reinforce the front lines. What you do can lead your country to victory, or to its defeat. Depending on the actions you choose, you might lead your character to their demise, meaning you are booted from the game, unable to return. You only know the scope of what your character knows, so you are usually limited in your knowledge (as you start as a simple soldier)
The technology and weaponry depends on the rank you are. Line Infantry, who make up most of the New Order army, carry a semi-automatic rifle with an attached bayonet (for use in charges), as well as a semi-automatic pistol as a sidearm. Assault Troopers are armed with rapid-fire assault rifles as well as a pistol and a small knife for use in close-quarter combat. Medics tend to carry only side-arms along with any medical supplies. Praetorians carry around heavy assault rifles and large-caliber pistols. All New Order soldiers wear jet-black armor with a red insignia on the front. Their helmets resemble gas masks (as chemical weapons are widely used) and contain a voice-changer that gives them a very deep, mechanical sounding voice that is used to both rally troops and frighten the enemy.
