You may have a problem with minecraft that is disallowing it to use your main graphics card/chipset, or your computer is having problems with the lighting/world loading of Minecraft thus causing it to lag.

Try allocating more memory to Minecraft.
How?

:O
Connectivity.
your PC is better than mine, by quite a bit, and i dont lag. its your connectivity, definitely. Try restarting your router/modem (unplug/replug) sometimes, that works.
It's not connectivity :I That would be obvious. E.G. chat lag and such. His problem is probably memory allocation. It doesn't matter how good of a PC you have if there is no memory going into Minecraft.

It isn't all about 'Computer specs' my old shitty laptop ran Minecraft with 80-120 fps most of the time and it had really, really bad specs and was also around 3-5 years old.

I still think it's all about the computer specs. :p

If I had a better computer, I could run MineCraft better.

And it's older than 5 years old.

I used to have lag, I couldn't figure out why. It would go fine for a bit then freeze over and over. I figured out what it was though, I was getting around 650+ fps so I installed optifine and turned on v-sync and now its fine.
Hope it helps ;)

Exactly the same that happens to me, but I fixed it with installing 64 bit java. I think. It works fine atm atleast .

Um... I'm going simple with my solution...

When you log on make sure clouds are off, graphics are fast, distance is normal/short and make sure anything that can be done second class is done, second class.

I had the same problem and its almost all gone now.
