Hey guys! I've been making an RoF map for about 2 weeks and am happy to say it's finally complete!
  • Name of the map: Forestplain_Falls
  • Creator(s): katman46, Itacraft
  • Size: It seems like a normal size for an RoF map
  • Biome: Plains
  • Screenshots, including timer areas (Do not use shaders or a custom resource pack!) :

Note: the map has been slightly updated since these snapshots were taken.
  • If you included chests, then list the items that are contained in each of them (Optional): There is one chest that contains a book that leads you to a hidden area. I also decided to be a nice map builder and put an enderchest at spawn
  • Any block that you prefer to be no-break or no-drop?: Stone bricks need to be unbreakable
  • Any extra information about your map?: Not really
  • Download link (optional): I'm not sure how to get the download link, but if you want to see the map, you can go to my plot on the Blocktopia server. (It will probably be easier if I'm on, though.)

(Not commenting on the map itself yet as I haven't seen it in-game)
Would you be able to create a warp to the map? /setwarp *name* should do it, but depending on your rank I'm not sure if you have permission.

EDIT: For people that want to check it out, /warp forestplain_falls

Thanks, Bram! I think you may need to be in the plot world, first

Okay, so after having a look at it in-game I feel like this map shouldn't get added to RoF (-1, if you want). A couple of reasons for that:

It doesn't look very interesting.
You've got the basic map right here- Grass/stone map with a few structures and trees, with a river running through it. It's pretty empty apart from that, and there's nothing really that sets it away from other similar maps. The entire map is very flat with only a few hills in the corner of the map, and a pyramid as the spawn. The bedrock floor at the lower area isn't very appealing either.

I don't think it could handle a lot of players.
The map looks pretty small to me as well. There isn't a whole lot to mine and I feel like there isn't really enough space to build a lot of houses It does have enough stone bricks to survive an angry mood with, but that's about it.

The map feels rushed and incomplete.
I feel like this you didn't work on this map for very long, and just thought "hey lets make a map for rof", without any planning or thinking about what the theme would be- Just creating a pretty ordinary yet empty map. I also noticed quite a few WE spheres behind the waterfall, try to avoid that!

Also, the lava in the stone brick tower would most likely have to be removed, as it could easily get griefed a big section of the map to get flooded. The enderchest at spawn, lapis lazuli & redstone blocks are also pretty overpowered. The latter two could be made no-drop, however.

Now this is just my opinion and I realize some people might think about this map differently. Please do not let my criticism discourage you to create more maps, I'm just trying to be honest here. So for now I feel like this map isn't good enough to get added to RoF, but if you'd be willing to edit/update it, I'd be willing to change my opinion.

Also, you might want to check this guide out: http://blocktopia.net/forum/threads/tips-on-mapmaking.13704/

Kinda bland terrain, nothing I haven't seen before on any of the other maps. Too much stone brick also, which is a pretty valuable material on RoF. Go for some unorthodox terrain and make it more vertical, and swap out some of the stone brick for some other stonework.

I'm in line with what Clockwork said. You're certainly trying, and it's important to be open to suggestion and reform when trying new tasks and endeavors! Minecraft relies very much on biomes consisting of stone and grass, therefore, we receive many maps based off grassy biomes sitting upon stone. Given these are quite popular, we try to accept less of them to encourage diversity. Therefore, for us to accept a grass and stone map, it must be exceptional. You would improve this map by expanding on it, and perhaps by taking it to another biome altogether. The key to success is risk-taking, so don't be afraid to get your feet wet!

This map isn't quite where it needs to be, but with some work, who knows, it may be worthy to join RoF's rotation!

Its plain, as has been said quite a lot and its structures look quite square and bland, in my opinion. Maybe you could try adding some other materials to the structures to give it some depth.
