It seems when I help people alot is when no staff members are on. But when staff members are on no one seems to need help. Is this bad luck for me? Or its just a random chance somehow.
This comes across as really selfish. The way you word it makes it seem as if you only want to help when we're online so that you can show off how helpful you are to benefit yourself, not being helpful for the good of the server and genuinely trying to make a difference.
There will always be staff members on IRC. Being helpful isn't really much to brag about, or to prove. Being helpful should be you being helpful because you want to, not because you want others to notice.
Just help when people need it, and if no one asks that's not your problem. It cant be helped.
Perfect_dude, if the only reason you are helping is to become trusted, then that's not a good reason. You should help people out of the goodness out of your heart. :) And as DJ says, People on IRC can see everything you say. People like me just sit there and watch the chat and talk that way because they do not feel like playing.
Actually, if you are helping people just to get recognition from the staff, that's a tad bit selfish, eh?
Helping people isn't always all about the rewards. What is truly is is helping people achieve something meaningful.
