Not sure how to play RoF? Feel like you're dying too much? Baffled by how others are doing so well? Well they may just know more about the game than you do! But that can change by simply reading on. This thread covers the game of RoF and gives some helpful tips. Soon, you can be at the top of the game!
The simple game of Rituals of Fire.
Or not as simple as you think?
For your first time on the server, you will go through a tutorial teaching you about buying items, the lava, and more. Once you finish the tutorial, you are promoted to Player and are let out to explore the lobby. A link will be coming soon to a new and improve guide to the spawn and lobby.
To enter the currently loaded map enter the end portal. Sometimes when entering this, the map will be flooded with lava, other times the lava has not been released yet and you will have an opportunity to build a base. You need to gather resources to make a base, tools, decorations, and more. Quickly find and craft the tools you can, search for ores, fight or hide from mobs, have some shelter.
Because soon, the lava will be released and your house will be put to the test. Once the lava has flooded the entire map and some time has passed, at five minutes before the round ends, you will be able to vote to be able to play a minigame called KoTL (King of The Ladder). In this you can train your PvP skills and try to stay on top of the ladder the longest! The round will end soon after and you will be rewarded for your surviving skills. Your rewards are cookies, which are the money of the game and can be used to buy items at the store and rank-ups. If you’ve voted to play KoTL, you will be teleported to the arena and be able to play.
After some time in the lobby, the next map starts and you are given time to gather resources and make a shelter like before, but this time, you keep the items you ended the last round with. Once you have made enough cookies from surviving, you can buy a rank up, which gives you more cookies when surviving. The more you play, the more powerful you get, until you are decked out with armor, weapons, and tools!
Well, that was pretty simple! But there is a lot more to the game than that. Special items, different commands, moods and unique situations all enrich the gameplay. Want to know some of these cool features? Well, read just a bit more, because we are now at....
RoF Tips
Playing
-Try to make your gameplay enjoyable. Don’t just make a small 3x3 AFK-house and sit there for the whole round, because that isn’t doing anything constructive for yourself or others. Try to expand your gameplay a bit, making each round that you play unique.
-Sand turns to glass when lava scorches it.
-It is always a benefit on your behalf if you have a crafting table and a furnace in your inventory at all times, placing them down when needed. If you can’t obtain either, the player shop sells them each for 1 cookie.-It's very handy to make a farm when you are able to, or use a fishing rod to fish for food.
-Teamwork isn’t required, but it’s highly recommended and preferable amongst the players. Your partner(s) can be able to help you with making a base, providing you with tools, pretty much anything that can improve your gameplay as a whole. Always try to work in teams if possible!
- Corners occasionally catch on fire, try not to AFK in them.
- Don't put wood, crafting tables or other meltable blocks near the wall! They and the blocks surrounded them may catch on fire.
Economy and ranking up
-When the round ends, you need to have at least 20 blocks of air around you, and can't be in spawn, near a sponge, outside the map/above the build limit or inside water if you want to get cookies.
-You get more cookies depending on your rank. New ranks also unlock new areas and shops!
-Always try to be conservative with your cookies. It can assist you if you need to buy something specific from the store, or just want to reach the next rank-up.
- Higher ranks get more cookies per round and unlock new shops, so it is suggested to save for new ranks instead of buying stuff in the lobby as a low-ranked player. Sometimes the shop items aren't really worth it!
Technical
-Wood and anything made out of wood melts. Don't use it to make your base!
-Ores generate randomly and melt on all moods. Unlike in vanilla minecraft they will generate separately, one ore at a time.
-You do not die from hunger, you just go down to five hearts.
-Don’t try to heal zombie villagers. They may just explode with anger!
-Creepers DO explode, so be very careful around them.
-You can’t use lava or water buckets, but you can use a lava bucket as fuel in a furnace.
-Sponges clear out lava in a 5x5 area when you place them. This area around the sponge is a safe zone, however, which means you won’t gain cookies inside it!
-Pumpkins let you breathe underwater. A pumpkin of Loden, which can be purchased in the Apprentice’s Armory, will give you the ability to destroy blocks underwater at the same speed as above water.
-Emeralds make you invincible for one minute.
Commands
-Use /rules to check the rules.
-Use /t to check the remaining time for the round.
-Use /money or /ico to check your current amount of cookies.
-Use /money top or /ico top to see who are the wealthiest players of the server.
-Use /ontime to see how long you have been playing on the server. (Might be broken sometimes, however!)
-Use /mvs if you need to go to the map's spawn.
-Use /lsinfo to check the lava mood and the current loaded map.
-Use /lobby to return to the lobby.
-Use /logout to return to the main Blocktopia lobby.

Other tips
-If you die from a grief or anything else unfairly, you can ask for an inventory restore from a staff member. But keep in mind: if they say no, don’t ask again.
-If you want to avoid dying, try not to be a hero and run outside where there are multiple amount of mobs.
-Use some common sense when playing. Follow the rules, and respect the players and staff.
