So you've recently tried clicking the chat tab up top, only to find that all of your messages are met with
#blocktopia :Cannot send to channel

You're getting this message because we've recently had a bit of a spamming problem in #blocktopia, so (hopefully temporarily), you will need an account with nickserv in order to continue participating in the vast and supafine community we've got to offer.

Here's the short of it:

1) HOW TO REGISTER

connect to chat with the username you want to use. Then, enter the following command to register your account (depending on your nickname, someone else might already have an account, which means you'll have to pick a different account name.)

syntax: /msg nickserv register password email@site.com

example: /msg nickserv register CorrectHorseBatteryStaple horrible@example.com

if you've successfully registered, you should get the following messages back (with your information where my example is):

-NickServ- An email containing nickname activation instructions has been sent to horrible@example.com
-NickServ- If you do not complete registration within one day, your nickname will expire.
-NickServ- horrible is now registered to horrible@example.com, with the password CorrectHorseBatteryStaple.

now open up your email however you usually do, and exactly enter the command (you can copy & paste) from there into chat:

/msg NickServ VERIFY REGISTER horrible nqsaaksglkinu

-NickServ- horrible has now been verified.
-NickServ- Thank you for verifying your e-mail address! You have taken steps in ensuring that your registrations are not exploited.

2) HOW TO IDENTIFY

This part is easy. once you've connected to IRC, just do the following:

syntax: /msg nickserv identify username password

example: /msg nickserv identify horrible CorrectHorseBatteryStaple

when successful, you will see a message like:
-NickServ- You are now identified for horrible.

Now you can chat all you like.
