Was alot easier than I thought it'd be, I had diamond armour and didn't know about the diamond armour bug.
Still even if that bug didn't exist, you can attack the dragon whenever it gets close and it will stop attacking and flee, so as long as you always keep an eye on it (and dont look at endermen) you can pretty much take it down without ever getting hurt.
I think it should breath fire at you or something, as dragons do, or at least not change direction if you hit it while it's swooping, it's too easy.
