I was enderpearling out of a place, and I ended up taking no damage and being left with the message "You are in a no-PVP area." So it only happens in the PvE zone. Again, the bug causes it so enderpearls do no damage to the thrower in the PvE zone.
Also, I was thinking, snowballs and eggs do no damage to players, so I thought maybe snowballs and eggs thrown by players should be able to hit players.
