This is just to avoid necroposting.
Idea: warnings for overdue threads/posts. When a post reaches a certan time acording to date. Example:
thread:
Status:
3/19/2014 ~ New
^
……
Thread:
Status:
4/12/2014 ~ Old
^
……
Thread:
Status:
12/99/3014 ~ Dead
……
Thanks!

This other idea is probably a long shot and a ridiculous thing to do -- but it may stop necroposting. So, how about have the forum admins go through EVERY old thread and close it?
Well, i guess, you're right. If one person is just too lazy to look at the date of the thread, then I guess they deserve a warning. MEH. I feel most of my questions are not suffeciant enough to pass. I'll let the admins decide if the should be closed.

Better idea: set an auto-archiver/purger for threads that reach necro status, since well, regardless if someones necro is this astonishing relivant meaningful addition they still get bitched at, so yeah.

-Since you know a necro isnt always a bad necro if it adds relivant deal- since you know making a new thread just to add onto a deal is just clutter and terrible when said thread will only get a few replies, so people get catch 22ed.

So just an auto-locker at threads after 1 month?

OK BITCHES I'LL TRY TO ADD THE FOLLOWING ADDON, THIS SHOULD SOLVE IT ALL, KTHX.

Old Thread Warnings provides a way of preventing very old threads from being bumped back to the top of a forum. It allows you to set a number of days as a cut-off for when a thread is deemed old. Anyone who try to reply after this date will be shown a warning message, and will have to check a box to confirm that they understand its an old thread. All buttons on the page are disabled to prevent them posting without first checking the box.

Why not, when the last post was a month+ ago, put a little icon next to the thread saying something like "Dead", "Old", or "Warning: Last post a month ago"

Or something funny or clever that I can't think of since I am neither.

(Or at the top of each page on the thread, sort of like the "posts in this section do not count towards your post count" thing.)

Well robo, if you really deem it appropiate for the thread to close at the minute, then sure. (also not to be an ass of any sort whatsoever)

Tagging @Sploorky now.
please don't.

Thread isn't being closed, gmk already responded on what we can do to appeal to both parties. No reason to lock something that doesn't need a lock.
