according to https://mojang.com/2015/01/announcing-minecraft-name-changes/ , On february 4th Mojang will allow minecraft name changes, and they will free up all non-premium Minecraft accounts.

I myself am changing my name to 'Light', both for being fresh and something nice and new~

So how about you? Are you changing your name after the 4th? If so, to what?

If my bros agree to it (they probably won't) I might be able to snag Ltin and be recognized again. I bet half the people that know me on AoD don't know I have a forum account :)
Spoiler alert: the one that wanted to call it rophan123 (wtf even) wasn't happy.
He said he was going to change it/delete the account, but I reminded him it's under my email address hehe :)

I just feel like most of the simplistic names will be taken, or have already been taken. They just feel too... Open? I dunno.

A lot of the simplistic names aren't premium, therefore they haven't been paid for. Mojang said they were freeing up the unpaid usernames (making them available). You can check whether a user is premium at http://flynntes.me/mc-username/

The most interesting part about this is how will we all know each other after the name change? I am known for being Trev and i'm happy being called Trev, but since this account was given to me I would like to change it to "Arbadar" my other screen-name.

I'm sure most of the names changed will be pretty obvious, most people just seem to want to remove excess numbers and letters,
i.e. Hunter27a1 -> Hunter.
