Patreon - what is it, why do we need it, and what do you want to get from it?
Anyone who's been keeping a close eye on our donations meter as of late will have realised that it's not been filling up very well. We've seen this, and are now trying to figure out what we can do about it. One of the solutions we're considering is Patreon.
Patreon is a crowdfunding platform that allows you to pledge a small bit of money on a recurring basis in order for you to help our server. It is primarily made for creators, but we can use it too. Of course, the donations aren't just for nothing, and come with definable rewards. The only problem is, if we go ahead with this, we don't know what rewards to give you.
We already have a couple of things in mind - Discord integrates with Patreon, so we can give you perks on Discord. Perhaps a special channel, a special colour, special permissions for ESCBot... But what about the rest of it? Do you want things for our servers? Our forums? The forums and Minecraft would need custom code creating, and we'd probably hook up the Donor rank to it anyway, but we can get around that, and I've got absolutely no idea about TTT. Minecraft rewards would have to be cosmetic only, however. We could give all our Donors a shout-out page. There is a patron news feed I think, so we could put some stuff on there. But what else? That's why we need you to help us. We're all unimaginative and unsure of what to give you all for giving us money if we were to go ahead with this. We want to give you the best possible rewards for donating to us on a regular basis, keeping up our servers, so tell us. What do you want?
