Just making this thread to dump some ideas I had for events be it temp servers, competitions or otherwise.

- Left 4 Dead 2 competition/event: could be great as an upcoming spoopy event.

- MC Modpack event server: suggested this recently, an temp smp server running with a modpack. Suggested Modpacks: CrusaderCraft, Void Launcher and Yogscast Pack, AT Launcher.*

- Worms Revolution Competition: I know a fair amount of people have this game in the community and i could be a fun competition to see who has the best can o' worms.

- An Official EscRestart League of Legends 1v1 competition, yes I am serious about this, a large part of the community play Lol and nearly all of them are competitive about it why not find out once and for all who is really the best of them all?

- A TTT competition to find the best player, an idea I had for this was to play 3 maps voted for by everyone and see who could rack up the most points over all 3, good way to celebrate the re-launch of the server.

- Hearthstone competition: another game which could have a fun competition based around it that a lot of people in the community play.

- CS:GO competition: reeling off another popular game in the community, although the best format for this would probably be teams.

- Solitude was suggested, but it has been done before (I'm sure someone has an official count.)

If people can think of other ideas that I haven't mentioned just post em and I'll edit them in when I see em.

*Yogscast Complete pack isn't supported by the AT Launcher anymore due to Java 1.8 so please ignore that suggestion. (It does have a fix but after fiddling around with it, the amount of RAM you need to run the pack is ridiculous even for my 6GB RAM laptop)

Crusadercraft modpack, Void Launcher.
In this day and age, it's probably the most enjoyable modpack with <70 mods and is enjoyable for more than chaotic stupidity.
Involved mods are mostly easy to understand (except for ancient warfare, and I'm still trying to understand how to set up custom npc quests and dialogues).

70 Mods? LightWeight! My favourite modpack would be the Yogscast modpack which contained around 220 mods, I think it can still be found on the AT Launcher. I'll add both to the original post.

(I'm kidding about the LightWeight bit btw)

Remember the good times when modpacks had an average top of 40-50 mods like the old Direwolf20 for MC 1.4.5?
only problem with those is how outdated they are, good luck getting me used to double-tapping W to sprint any more; sprint key for life.
Or you know, just use a modpack which lets you walk twice as fast as you can run because you made some crazy boots or somethin, LOOKING AT YOU THAUMCRAFT

I have fond memories of using NEI to enchant quantum leggings with the enchantment at level 10 and using the FVDisco Sonic map to get a high level of swiftness and then running insanely fast across water (made possible in part by boots of the traveler).

I also have less fond memories of completely wasting a world by putting repair enchantments on diamond armor and getting hit by a zombie.
But enough about the very not distant past, lest the train run into someone's house.
Reasoning which I spoilered to condense post size
I suggested crusader craft because it accomplished much of which it's spiritual predecessor (the Fellowship modpack) thought of, but didn't quite strive for. My main points are tools to make custom dungeons & gear, and personal customization.
With the fellowship modpack, I got to play around with insanely powerful bosses and make players (namely my friend that some of you may remember as Wolff__Industrial, and myself) also quite powerful to rival them.
Needless to say, the results were quite silly, chaotic, at times annoying, and at other times, quite entertaining.
However, I was a little sad that I couldn't quite customize all my gear to match my fantasies.
I also couldn't be @$$ed to build my own cool dungeons with such pitiful tools.

Then Crusader craft essentially replaced Fellowship, bringing custom player models, armorer's workshop (amazing for 3D swords and armor model designs, though it could use some work on ironing things out), Thaumcraft (which has the beloved wand focus of equal trade).

Only problem I see with doing Crusader craft as an event server is that it would need some time (at least 2 weeks, I think, though a month or two would be optimal) to develop things such as dungeons, quests, bosses, npc villages that aren't boring, even custom 'random encounters', and other things (I personally would like to help designing custom sword and armor skins as well as setting up shop npcs and enemy AI), then perhaps another month or two (or longer) for people to play through and enjoy the server to it's fullest before giving it an end event.
Also, a rather astonishing thing about Crusader craft is how easily you start to forget about one very key mod: The Lord of The Rings mod.

If we do decide to do a Crusader craft server, I would very much appreciate it if anyone were to notify me, as I would love to do something for this community that I know I can do.

Please Ignore my earlier suggestion for the Yogcast complete pack, its not supported properly by the AT Launcher anymore and needs at least 3GB RAM to run properly.

Just my thoughts -- also, my knowledge is limited regarding the dedicated server and whether or not it can handle your suggested games.
Any responses from Nillbugwtw superstein tnmjimbob on that would be useful.

Left 4 Dead 2 competition/event: could be great as an upcoming spoopy event.
I guess this would require server setup for the Community or would this be something that can be run by someone else? Also, it sounds like a nice idea and 86 players, according to Steam, have this game in this Community so maybe a few players would be interested in playing together on it. If we can set a server up then why not?

I believe tnmjimbob showed interest in starting something like this up, but I'm unsure about the specifics. It'd be neat to see something like this, but at the same time would other players be interested in it. And personally I'd like to see a long-term SMP style server where players can take their time playing in it and gradually rankup. I wish we could do a Prison server though.

Worms Revolution Competition: I know a fair amount of people have this game in the community and i could be a fun competition to see who has the best can o' worms.
I'm looking at this - http://escaperestart.com/forum/steam/top-owned-games - and that game doesn't seem to be on there. Which Community are you talking about?

An Official EscRestart League of Legends 1v1 competition, yes I am serious about this, a large part of the community play Lol and nearly all of them are competitive about it why not find out once and for all who is really the best of them all?
This would be interesting -- though I believe that ESC can't make a server for this? So it would have to be setup through someone that plays the game? Of course you can correct me if I'm wrong.

A TTT competition to find the best player, an idea I had for this was to play 3 maps voted for by everyone and see who could rack up the most points over all 3, good way to celebrate the re-launch of the server.
Infected_alien8_ could set this up if he wants to?

The thing with TTT is that it's very difficult to have competitions like that because your score is very much based on luck - if, for example, you just so happen to be selected as Traitor lots, you'll most likely do much better than someone who hasn't been selected to be Traitor at all, so it wouldn't be fair. If the TTT players want something like this(?), I'd be glad to run it, but it wouldn't be able to be a fair competition with prizes and whatnot because it isn't really a gamemode you can measure player's ability/score with well. Unless someone has an idea to make it work or people don't care whether it's completely fair or not \o/

It's correct that there are no servers however it's beyond simplistic to set up these matches (~9 seconds if you've seen the setup before)

edit: in reference to league 1v1's
