About a year ago we started using Discord as a means for the community to talk to each other, and as with all the decisions the community has made this was a good one. We've now grown to about 350 users with approximately 2-3 users joining (and leaving) per day without any advertising and the only link on the forums, so we've got that going for us.
A while back you heard from Vatumok that we're gonna revamp the community and make Discord centre of it all. While this is somewhat related to that, you won't see a major change to a community anytime soon. What we're doing here is clearing up our Discord and make it look and feel nicer, based on what we've heard from you guys and generally how most Discord servers are structured.

Right off the bat you'll see that the text channels and voice channels have been changed significantly - we've changed them such that they're more fitting of a proper gaming community, which means that our hosted servers no longer get their own text channels, but instead a merged channel for each game.
The number of public text channels actually increases, hence you won't be seeing any loss of chat history - most of the new text channels are just renamed channels with their histories intact.

In addition to the LoP Family Roles, which will be assigned to you by LoP Nobles or Staff, we've added game roles! These roles can be self-assigned with the help of our friendly bot, ESCBot. You can assign roles to yourself based on what games you play the most, and find other players who play the same games as you.

Why are you choosing Discord over Teamspeak?
We've never said Discord was better than Teamspeak. Discord got a little messy and now we're cleaning it up! Nothing else is gonna change much besides the Discord server.
I miss #aod already!
If you have a reasonable suggestion to make, be it a new text/voice channel or some sort of discord-related idea, feel free to leave it on the forums as well as the suggestions text channel. If it's a decent idea, we'll set up a poll for you on the Discord server so that other players can vote on your idea.

Can I sign up to be Discord Staff?
Currently we don't really need discord staff because we already staff members from our hosted game servers - by signing up to be server staff you'll receive basic discord mod perms as well.

Do note that the changes to the Discord Server will never be final and will be subject to change depending on how it goes.
