As we all know and as you all can see, we just don't have as much players as we used to have. Every now and then a new server pops up and Blocktopia gets a little fuller. But then..... players begin to stop playing as much and we go back to our 40-25 maximum rates. I remember when I first joined Blocktopia, there was players everywhere. Now, we are like a old man, slowly dying.

BTW, didn't we have a adventure lobby server before we put all the servers in a central lobby?

As Sploorky said we made the transition from having both Classic and Premium to just premium servers now. Those people that played on Classic but didn't own minecraft will, more than likely, try to buy it so they can come back.

Also look at how popular some of the servers are at the non-awkward times. Normally on RoF during busy times I see 28 people online? If not more. Yes, we have many servers that aren't popular right now, I point to BB and TNT. TNT is fairly new but it has a strong player base and those players will probably spread the word around. As for BB it recruits knew players everyday because of the aspect of a premium freebuild.

Yes, we are in a period of low turnout right now. As Da_Jinks said wait until summer we will have many many players coming in then as school will be out for most people and they will have the time free then. I don't predict the Blocktopia will die for a long time but more so we will keep transitioning and ebbing and flowing with the interest of the player and minecraft base.

As for your question, yes we did have an adventure server called A&T (Adventures & Tournaments) but I believe it was closed down due to large amounts of issues in it.

we may have to advertise or publicize a bit more frequently in the future.

Not "may" or "future" it's needs to me "will' and "now", why wait for a player base to go down to the point where we have to advertise, plan for the future of Blocktopia today and not tommorow.
This is exactly what I warned would happen with Classic, and alas, it did. We need immediate, knee-jerk reactions to drops in players. I'd give it a little time due to finals and 1.5.2, but we should monitor this closely.

Before, players could find us by simply looking up servers on the server list of Classic.
Now that we don't have this form of free advertising, we do need to find something else to bring players in.

However, we won't be "dying" anytime soon.
Even without advertising, it'd take several months for the community to die out.

Take note that other Minecraft communities aren't fond of us anymore. -cough- -urbandictionary 'blocktopia'- -cough-
We have to factor in the number of people that don't like Blocktopia, and would do anything to prevent others from coming here.

Remember, common sense isn't so common. People will believe anything someone else says without trying it themselves. For instance, HypeBurst gets banned and goes to MineManiacs and spreads hate about us, and everyone believes him. Try reversing that effect four years in, and after thousands of people have been banned. I'm sure the admins have tried, and I'm pretty sure that it's not easy.

As for the thread itself, I do believe Blocktopia's servers are dying. The Forum is alright. The servers alone see less action, and the once regulars aren't leaving, but merely becoming less active. Nobody just goes cold turkey from a server, unless they were banned. There are other factors in this that others have mentioned, but I'll leave you folks to figure that out.

Even I would hate me if I did that

You see here, ever since Jeb hid Classic on Minecraft.net, and blocked new players from joining Classic, activity has gone low for Classic. For Premium, I don't believe it's updated to 1.5.2 yet, so that's probably why activity decreased on there since people have most likely updated.
There's also for SAT and such coming up since it's almost the end of the school year, so many people will most likely be studying and such.
Other than these reasons, I don't think this community is dying. Sure, maybe like 5-6 are online a server, just wait until the summer, you'll see a big difference.

Look at all the dislikes for anything positive for Blocktopia.
Also, in response to people saying "finals, we should just wait"- again. Honestly, even when winter break and spring break came around, it still was a low amount of players. Just waiting right now doesn't help anything. It's like "well it's the school year just wait until summer." That's a good bit of time, and people that come around this time will just think the servers are always empty, and we lose even more people. I'm tired of people saying "wait". It's time to make a move now.

Yeah the hundreds of thumbs downs the messages got in it.

My opinion on that page is that people know those messages are bias which were written by our Admins/Players. When I saw how they were written I was honestly in shock. Lets take for instance this first message written on the page.....

Blocktopia is one of Minecraft's largest Communities. They run over six servers (formerly eight). Blocktopia originally started out as a simple Lava Surivival server until further efforts helped expand it into its wonderful assort of servers. (SMP, BuildBox, AoD, Lava, TNT, and Zombie.) Each server is managed by 1-3 Directors who spend their own free time mantaining the structural integrity of their server.

Contrary to popular belief, Blocktopia's Admins aren't 12 years old. They're mature young men and women (aging from 17-21) who preform their job in the most civil manner. Blocktopia isn't money hungry either. All money donated is 100% used for server costs.
Random Minecrafter: What's Blocktopia?
Random Minecrafter 2: Only one of the most awesome Minecraft communities ever!

This was posted back in November of 2012 which means this was posted after classic took the major hit in October and our fan base was cut in atleast half.

The problem I can see from people who arn't bias towards this and would thumbs down it is that it starts off saying we are "One of Minecraft's largest Communities" which we all know good and well that we arn't and probaly never will be based on who we are.

I can't say all of our Admins have "preformed their jobs in the most civil manner" either, this could very well also have a effect on the playerbase that has traveled through different servers including ours. Who would like to be a unknown player that has just joined a server and sees a what used to be a admin use words like "dick" and such. It's gonna turn players off from here.

And last of all, the "Random Minecrafters" I think we should let the players who are willing to try these communtity decide on their own how this place is and not attempt to tell them it's "the most awesome community".

This is just my opinion and have thought some of these things for a long time now and figured this would be the perfect time to post something like this.

Well, at this point I do believe it is clearly declining in player activity. The fall of classic is a major part of this. Classic brought in 90% of the 'new' players to this community, and eventually these new players transitioned to the Blocktopia premium servers.

It is obvious that if this community does not advertise soon it will fall very soon, it needs someway to get the name of Blocktopia out again. Yeah, it may cost a bit of money, but it is the only way to keep the community going, that is why the donation amount should of stayed at $150. (To account for advertisements and marketing.)

Furthermore, we all need to grasp the fact this community will not be the same as it was in 2011. So if you have stuck around awhile (much like myself and many others) you wont see the same characteristics of this community you saw 2 years ago. Life is full of change, might as well deal with it or get used to it.

Lastly, I have been apart of this community since it began, saw it -almost- fall on multiple occasions, saw it switch names, and saw it rebuild itself (several times.) I make a lot of predictions about things in Blocktopia and am usually right about them, and I do not see this community dying anytime soon. Blocktopia will do what it always has done and overcome the issue.

Thanks, Maboh. Got scared there. Thanks for reassuring me :D

Even when I'm off school I have to revise a fair bit,.

[Commence over-dramatic post]
It's not just Blocktopia dying, it's the whole of Minecraft.

There was a time when thousands of 10 year-olds would flock to minecraft.net to purchase a new, exciting game - Minecraft. It's not like that any more.

Minecraft is just losing it's whole mojo, in my opinion.
