[BCOLOR=transparent]AESTHETIC REQUIREMENTS FOR[/BCOLOR] [BCOLOR=transparent]BUILDER[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]EscapeRestart: Create[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] is now available, and with it has come a reset of the Builder rank. The rank will now have slightly stricter requirements due to the availability of WorldEdit to the Novice rank below it, but Builder will still hold its place as an entry-level building rank.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]What do I have to do?[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]To apply for Builder[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - You must complete a [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]non-collaborative [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]build in your Novice plot (64x64), the reason why is because we want to is [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]your[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] building skill[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent], not anyone else’s. Given the small size of the plots, we would expect the plot to have been filled - it is difficult to add sufficient detail to a build which is much smaller than that![/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Detail is key [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]- Good use of depth, block variation, and interesting shaping will net you increased chances of promotion. Creative use of the tools in WorldEdit is also an encouraging sign - [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]do not create a huge WorldEdit box and expect a promotion because you know how to input a command![/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Skills in terrain and structural building are appreciated[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - WorldEdit allows you to terraform quickly and easily through its various shape brushes, but do not worry if you’re not confident with this - our staff are more than happy to help if you have any questions! [/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Check out Psycho’s WorldEdit guide on the forums: [http://escaperestart.com/forum/threads/guide-worldedit-resources.17973/[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]][/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]What should I consider when creating my build?[/BCOLOR]

  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Aesthetics [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]- People will have different likes/dislikes of a build, but ultimately, you must consider the combination AND placement of the blocks that you choose when creating your build. Essentially, make it nice and interesting to look at.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Size [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]- a full 64x64 plot should usually do it, although if this is too small feel free to use the flatland. You can also get a second plot to use if your first plot has been filled up.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Theme[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - Fantasy, Modern, Nature, Anything that you can imagine![/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Terrain[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - Some terrain is better than no terrain. So having your build surrounded by or sitting ontop mountains would make your build stand out. Stylize your terrain with flat, pointy, arched, or bumpy mountains![/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Trees[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - Make custom trees instead of pre-made ones! They show that you put effort and makes your overall build look unique.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Shaping[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] - Rectangles are so 2011! Try out interesting shapes and patterns for your build.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Interior Work - Add furniture and different rooms to your build.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • Depth - Add layers to your flat wall, it'll create interest and focal points.
  • Detail - Use slabs, stairs, fences, or smaller blocks to add interesting elements to the interior or exterior parts of your build.
  • Block Variation - Choose blocks that complement each other. Think of a theme so none of the blocks look like it's out of place.

[BCOLOR=transparent]Can I use redstone?[/BCOLOR]

  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Redstone work is finally being considered for the Builder rank![/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Show complexity in your redstone build.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Do not plagiarise from redstone tutorials.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Make your redstone build unique and try to add interesting building elements to it.[/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Your redstone build must be large and should actually do something impressive![/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Can I use a resource pack?[/BCOLOR]

  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Building in the default resource pack would be appreciated[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] because other resource packs either enhance block textures or change the way they look-- which may lead to an advantage. [/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]
  • [BCOLOR=transparent][BCOLOR=transparent]Also, most of the staff will be looking at your build with the default texture pack![/BCOLOR][/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]General Examples[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent](Images will be updated for the Create album)[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent] - Images taken from the Create server.[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent] - Images taken from Buildbox[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Things that won’t get you the Builder rank[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Small Builds[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Any build [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]less than 10x10 blocks[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent] will not be considered UNLESS they are grouped together to form a much larger area of houses such as a village. Details will still be looked at, but now that Novice ranks have WorldEdit, the expectation is that your builds will be much larger but sufficiently detailed.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Simple Builds[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Flat walls? Using one block type for you whole build? Pretty boring to look at if you ask me. A lack of depth, detail, and block variation in your build will lower your chances of getting the Builder rank. [/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]Make it interesting to look at and use your imagination[/BCOLOR][BCOLOR=transparent]![/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Pixel Art (Flat and 3D)[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Feel free to have fun creating pixel art, but simply making just that WILL NOT get you the Builder rank. [/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Plagiarism[/BCOLOR]
[BCOLOR=transparent]Copying a build and saying that you made it is highly frowned upon. We will find out and make sure that you won’t be able to rank up. Ever. Same deal goes with block-for-block copies of builds. Don’t do that. Just use your imagination.[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]***Requirements are subject to change.***[/BCOLOR]

[BCOLOR=transparent]Note: Any requests for the Builder rank should be done in the Create server when a staff member is available OR through a Forum PM to any Create staff. There is no need to post a Builder application in the forums![/BCOLOR]
